How Pip Value Is Calculated
Pip Value = (Pip Size / Exchange Rate) × Lot Size (units)
For USD-quoted pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD), the pip value in USD is simply the pip size multiplied by position size: one standard lot on EUR/USD has a pip size of 0.0001, so pip value = 0.0001 × 100,000 = $10 per pip.
For USD-base pairs (USD/JPY, USD/CAD), you divide by the current exchange rate: pip value = (0.01 / 150.00) × 100,000 = ~$6.67 per pip on USD/JPY at 150.00.
For cross pairs (EUR/JPY, GBP/AUD), you calculate the pip value in the quote currency first, then convert to your account currency using the relevant USD exchange rate.
